Bardolino Superiore - 0.75 L bottle

History of the PDO: This wine takes its name from the homonymous village located on the green eastern coasts of Lake Garda. The name, certainly of Germanic origin, could derive, as the legend says, from Bardali, daughter of King Axuleto and grandson of Manto, founder of Mantua and sung by the Latin poet Virgil and Dante Alighieri in the Divine Comedy. Until 1800, to produce Bardolino, it was common to ferment the must in some cavities in impermeable areas of the ground covered with stone slabs. With the decree of August 1, 2001, the denomination of controlled and guaranteed origin (DOCG) was assigned to Bardolino Superiore wine.

Grape variety: Corvina 55% Rondinella 30% Molinara 15%

Training system: low spurred cordon and Guyot.

The producer: Villa Medici - Housed in the spaces of an ancient mansion dating from the late 17th century near the famous Ossuary, the Caprara family company covers about thirty hectares on the morainic hills of Custoza. The production is curated by Luigi Caprara with his wife Paola, who has specifically chosen to scrupulously preserve the typical character of the wine, obtained through the hard and wise work of its predecessors. The inevitable technological evolution that has characterized the last decades, and that too often has become synonymous with the homologation and annihilation of the added value of a handmade product, in the case of Azienda Agricola Villa Medici has become a means of improving and enhancing the product.

Production Area: Sommacampagna (VR).
