Notes on the PDO: The origin of the PDO name of the Salice Salentino is to be attributed to some historical producers present in the PDO Salice Salentino area, which already from the 30's produced red and rosé wines based on Negroamaro (Negro amaro) and Black Malvasia. In 1976, thanks to the success of these wines on national and international markets, the denomination of origin "Salice Salentino" was established. The name of this wine derives from the town of the same name located north of Lecce, an area of vineyards and olive groves, where farmhouses and ancient lookout towers are scattered. The grapes must be produced in the production area that includes the entire administrative territory of Salice Salentino, Veglie and Guagnano in the province of Lecce and San Pancrazio Salentino and Sandonaci in the province of Brindisi and also in part of the municipal area of Campi Salentina in the province of Lecce and Cellino San Marco in the province of Brindisi. Of fundamental importance are the human factors linked to the production area, which have contributed to obtaining the “Salice Salentino” wine by consolidated tradition.

Grape variety: 90% negroamaro - 10% malvasia nera.

Vineyard age: 45/50 years.

Training system: sapling.

The producer: Feudi di Guagano - With about fifteen hectares of vineyards (mostly old saplings), all cultivated in Negramaro, black and primitive Malvasia placed in the valuable district of Guagnano, the company, founded in 2002 combining the passion of five young entrepreneurs, builds a solid wine project, and produces wines with a mature and defined trait.
